DESCRIPTION:

A 1 Day Shimba Hills safari is a full day trip that starts early in the morning at dawn and ends in the evening. This 1 day safari to shimba hills is a short scenic safari where you will have about five hours on a game drive including a bush walk looking for animals and birds while also enjoying the spectacular coastal forest landscapes of Shimba Hills national reserve. This Wild Kenya Safaris day trip starts from Diani Beach, Tiwi and also other areas on the Kenya coast.

1 DAY SHIMBA HILLS SAFARI ITINERARY: 

​

We pick you up from your Hotel at about 6:00am and drive along the Mombasa – Diani highway towards Kwale town to Shimba Hills National Reserve. Upon arrival at the parks main gate, we begin your game drive searching for the few shy animals such as forest elephants, sable antelopes, buffalo, warthogs, impala, baboons and other types of animals and birds. Unlike other the national parks, shimba hills is more densely covered by forest so is more of a scenic safari than a wildlife safari, consider spotting the hidden wildlife as a plus.

 

At about 10.00am we stop at a look out point where we join a ranger for a bush walk to the Sheldrick Waterfalls, its quite a long and interesting hike so a good pair of walking shoes is recommended, you can also take a dip under the falls so do remember to bring a towel and a change of clothes. After a few minutes enjoying the waterfalls, you walk back uphill to the vehicle and continue the game drive drive until you reach the main gate. We then exit the park and proceed for lunch and rest at Shimba Hills Green Safari Lodge or similar.

 

After lunch, enjoy the views and swimming pool at the lodge and later in the afternoon we drive back to your beach hotel arriving in the evening.

OUR ADVICE:

This safari departs very early in the morning so try to get some good rest the night before. Do also ask your hotel to prepare a very early morning breakfast before departing for this safari experience.
